Virtual Free University (VFU) Social Change Mission Statement clarification and an interaction with DwD, (OCADU) et al :
I
would like to thank all of you for your hospitality and sharing during yesterday's
Design with Dialogue (DwD). I'm also
grateful that you were open to our proposal of a VFU interchange with DwD at OCADU.
The guiding
principle is love over power. Which I think, in your character does not have
to be adjusted, because I think you are actually coming from a place that
is from the heart and that is your primary driving force. This is all well
and good.
However from our perspective, as veterans of
decades of media activism, with a very specific agenda, we are seeking to
recruit whatever resources that we can and put them into the service of these
objectives. We have very clear as to what our goals and mission statements
are. The problem I think is that we are having a difficult time conveying
these concepts, and why? Precisely, as was touched on during the design with
dialogue session, when a speaker was sharing about his experience attempting
to correlate the aspirations of the community, with the bottom-line agendas
of the institution, for which he was employed. The institutional power structure,
without love, enforces its agenda and the community supplicates.
i.e.: Further on the theme of Love and Power... at the risk of going off on another tangent and this is no reflection on the DwD, I noticed the city has been hit by poster campaigns for bondage and domination promoting a fetish balls. In response a campaign on AdBan.org states that “bondage domination sadism and masochism fetish media is a violation of women, a degradation of human rights and is the anti-thesis of free speech” I have little tolerance for the free speech rights of toxic advertisers, or the violence in media, claiming shelter under the free speech banner.
So then why is this particular
poster is so offensive? Because, It represents
a pattern, a general trend of media, hell-bent on war mongering, teaching
an entire generation that “it's okay.” It is okay, to gouge people's eyes
out to promote a fetish commodity. That it is okay to torture people. That
there is some sort of entertainment value in bondage and domination. That
slavery, somehow it's fashionable and welcomed in our society. Yes we are
told repeatedly that these images and media are not real, that they are just
a masquerade. The point is the subconscious mind cannot discern the difference
and in the case of children, who see these in public places, cannot have the
maturity to be able to distinguish reality from theater. Increasingly I see
the ultra-kitsch vampire blood dripping, mercenary machinery that is very
familiar. A repetition of the cycle, I recognize so clearly, in 1937
I wanted to touch on this issue of BDSM media in order for me to
put in context my reality, in relationship to the other abstract power driven institutions that chew up the arts and sciences
and spit out the blood drained carcasses into the dumpsters.
It was interesting that among the Artist /Designer /Academic community, that no one protested these posters inthe cities "creative community", it seems traditionally pseudo self mandated to the task representing the idea of free speech, freedom of expression, laissez-faire, and all these other increasingly oxymoronic platitudes, we see in an increasingly fascist media. It seems that everything is legitimate and media provided that there is a huge box office. That entertainment in the brothel, is measured by a mercenary rule. It is interesting to find the subject of ethics entirely marginalized in the so called academies of higher learning in the arts, where in fact it should have a primary audience and the highest priority.
I
am grateful today that I am using voice recognition technology so that at
least that I am not masochistically hurting my arms that already have repeated
stress injury, from writing this kind of screed for this many decades. And
as you so aptly recognize there are more writers out there than there are
readers, certainly the oral tradition is practically non existent in this
so called democracy.
Incidentally however, I see that this blind sighted ness
in terms of the questions regarding the praxis of non ethics in design is
precisely the core issue of my work in technethics and human ecological recovery. It is also, I think the reason why my
work is so consistently “marginalized, quarantine, homogenized, and then clone”.
It is in no way an indication that my work is somehow not focused, or that
it is not able to be grasped by students, or professionals alike. “When the
student is ready, the teacher will arrive.” It is clear to me, that in an
addictive society practicing the religion of Armageddon and Mammon worship,
with the same kind of suicidal intensity that the fascist power addict pathology
repeatedly demonstrates in history, that it is not likely applied ethics in
technology is going to be a very popular subject. That does not mean however
that students, or professionals cannot grasp it, or that we are not able to
present it in a form which can be digestible, or that we need to constantly
be framed within the context of some already marginalized agenda and give
guest lectures in relationship to some already pre approved curriculum, that
is biased in favor of the Imperial warmongering academic agendas.
You do have our solidarity and respect. I see in your /DwD work fine mentors and educators, with noble
values and aspirations, unfortunately the mercenary brothel always makes mockery
of the finest monk.
Yes, in answer to your question, I am open to doing a design with dialogue presentation based on our primary objective of creating efficient de-design for de-schooling the planet in terms of minus zero population growth awareness. Every other action in relation to this agenda is either an asset or a liability to this primary agenda and this includes the
Virtual
Free University, liaison with OCADU et al.
I
have already presented our needs in terms of facilitating this process of
creating books, documentaries, educational games and so on for global dissemination
and de mystification. For this purpose whether it is a class of students, or
group of professionals is irrelevant. What is needed is the equivalent technical
and intellectual energy out put of perhaps 20 to 40 postgraduate level
minds, familiar with applied technethics, or as
this combination would be difficult to find, at least knowledge of ethics,
technology, media, demographics etc. participating in cooperation the principles
of the virtual free University process of de-schooling and de-design that
is based on mutual aid. As you already know we do not recognize degrees, or
differentiate between student mentors, nor do we recognize professional status.
Like the exemplary12-step Programs we remain anonymous, for this reason.
On
this note of VFU protocols, I need to update you: I am now going to be doing
a 90 day hiatus, for recovery issues related to my recent workaholic binge.
I am relieving myself of administrative duties at the virtual free University
at least for the next 90 days, in keeping with protocols that require 90 days
abstinence from addictions of any kind, including process addictions like
workaholism.
Yes
we have been seeking to disseminate this primary material about minus Zero
population growth since 1972. We are grateful for your respect of our
drafts, which would require the equivalent of two semesters with 30 to 40
intelligent media activists to actualize. I have already submitted basically
a verbatim outline of the syllabus proposed to OCADU
for this purpose. I am not sure if you have already listened to this material, that was posted on twitter last week. I am open to
presenting a guest lecture sometime next year at your convenience however
I am afraid that my rendering of ethics perhaps will not fit in to the OCADU agendas that obviously minimized
the subject into obscurity by offering one work as the summa bona
.
In
terms of the design with dialogue session I can see what I think is the critical
problem not only with this gathering but it seems to me a general trend observable
right across the board, that of truncating and concise communications into
fragmented specialized languages that are not connected or interconnecting.
That is to say the presenter to ample time for his presentation and of course
designers and professionals will be interested to know what their peers are
up to so for that reason they will return. Time and again, to compare notes
and see how their ideas are being rendered by others and so on and to give
the back which gives them empowerment within the context of the group. This
is all good. Then breaking up into smaller groups in order to have brainstorming
sessions and to translate abstract ideas into symbols and references on graphs
and aunt graphic displays so that others can then interact with these nodes,
is good also. These things are inspirational, they come from love, they are
fun, in terms of Durkheim you could even say it is a collective effervescence
and in terms of my phenomenological thesis "religion is art and art is
religion" you could say that design with dialogue is a kind of mass,
hopefully not a "fools mass", but a genuine harmonious interaction
for common higher good. This is all good. Even in a non-duelist concept, it
is balanced and harmonious.
Where
it breaks down is precisely at the point where the presenter consizes
and places time restraints on the presentation in what basically is in keeping
with the oral tradition where the ideas that are created in the individual
brainstorming groups now have to be presented in limited time, by abstracting
them, again this idea of specialization boxes that everything has to fit into
in order for it to be commoditized, neat little packages that can then be
marketed or exploited. But what happens then is that, what took 45 minutes
to render is now to be transmitted in three minutes. What happens then is
that the essential elements cannot be given proper codification and so the
node is visible but not comprehensible and so it becomes non-workable in the
sense that other nodes cannot interact with it, because they cannot find common
denominators, for the simple reason that there is not enough information gleaned
from the five-minute rendering of 45 minutes of output. As I have already
suggested I could see these nodes interacting within the context of our Virtual
Free University Academic StructureThinkTank model. The only prohibiting factor is that the individual
node or if you like study desk participants will not take the time to familiarize
themselves with the language or more precisely intellectual culture of neighboring
nodes and will not bother to create the jumps between concepts that will interconnect
the entire grouping of node clusters so that there is neither a hierarchical
top-down power without love driving force orchestrating everything, nor is
there any flowery "love" thing with the absence of power dissipating
itself like parenting without discipline. Yes it is true that huge numbers
of people cannot possibly arrive at Democratic decisions. It is equally true
that small groups of people cannot affect an entire society, if their creative
out put is not permitted to affect the consciousness and raise awareness of
the society at large. There must be both the ability for small groups of think
tank members who respond to the needs of the society to be able to present
their contributions without censorship, to the entire society and for that
society to be able to interact with these node clusters, to give feedback.
So that there is a reciprocal exchange of information, precisely what the
virtual free University model for de-schooling and de-design is all about.
Therefore the design with dialogue forum could very easily and efficiently
benefit from developing the virtual free University model. This particular
writing in fact, is part of this class if you will. Like I said before we
meet 30 to 40 students mentors professionals in order for the actualization
of our primary agenda with regards to de-design of global artificial ignorance
surrounding procreation hygiene and I could see at the outset a very possible
if not probable correlation and coordination of assets and resources from
both OCADU and design with dialogue towards this agenda. An agenda
I might stress that is based on the use of power motivated by love and governed
by wisdom under grace.
The question is whether or not the middle drawing of interacting nodes, (see links referring to this subject on your
VFU*
ThinkTankStudyDesk and of the Purusha
figure in our group graphic display (that we wrote about in our previous draft
to you on De-Design
and Democracy) can be picked up on by the other nodes in the design with
dialogue forum and interacted with as per our VFU*AcademicStructureIneractiveDesignPage.
The reason why this purusha rendering was not picked up on by the other nodes
was because the group speaker was not able to deliver the concept because
of time constraints on her abstract rendering of the group conscience. This
is precisely where the oral tradition breaks down, you have a never ending
gerbil on the treadmill of the abstract Ellulian
idea of "efficiency" and this religion of "scientism"
for "progress" in the baby bath of accredited mercenary academic
media monopoly agendas and why we have a never ending procession of so-called
"like-minded" green washed NGOs collecting money for their never
ending "research", as in the Imperial religionist media monopolies
with none of this money from the "poor box" ever getting anywhere
near the solution to the problem of the poverty business, which is only a
business as long as there is poverty. So to it is not likely that any of these
think tanks dedicated to "saving the planet" will ever arrive at
anything that resembles the start of a change for the better. Already I can
see in design with dialogue this pattern emerging, if it has not already been
in effect for several years. I do not know because I was not there, but I
suspect that this is already been the case for some time.
In
conclusion I would like to stress again that my primary agenda of the de-
designer Messiah, or Vishnu incarnation or whatever other derogatory term
the media monopoly chooses to crucify us with, my primary agenda is using
the greatest amount of power directed, by the greatest amount of wisdom under
the guidance of the greatest amount of love for the highest good and under
the grace of the most high truth for the commonweal. And in my lights I cannot
see any other most important issue than the question of the implementation,
on a global scale, via de-schooling and the design of minus zero population
growth. Not because I am one of the conspiracy theorists illuminati, "Club
of Rome", media monopolist concerned about the future of rapacious capitalism,
or that I am terribly interested in the profit margins likely to be created
by foisting green energy on the populace already polluted in a sea of petrochemical
garbage and nuclear waste, on the contrary it is because of love of the good
orderly direction of the universe and the knowledge that the feet of the Purusha
are diseased, that the arms are infected with addictions and that the brain
is contaminated with poisonous and is morally insane, psychopathic and sadistic.
In the writings of SP charter we see what I think
is an appropriate vision, that of a society destroyed
culturally psychologically and physically morally by overcrowding. We cannot
have sustain ability, although that word is used by green washing corporate
agenda spins most frequently these days, without minus zero population growth.
All the Kyoto accords and green energy profiteering
will not arrest the ecological holocaust that we are now experiencing without
minus zero population growth. In a society dedicated to the culture of mercenary
self aggrandizement the idea of ethics and technology is highly suspect. In
my reading however applied Technethics is the only
way back to the garden of sustain ability. I do not have any questions as to
what direction designing with dialogue or OCADU need
to go in terms of questions relating to "saving the planet" if that
is the purpose of these forums. I do not think it is a no great just exercise
the power to define clearly your mission statements in designing with dialogue.
If I were to incorporate designing with dialogue and OCADU into my agenda there would be only one possible direction
that it could go in and that is the use of all available resources, intellectual
and otherwise, directed at the task of correcting the global artificial ignorance
perpetuated by drug cartels, and there junk food and pharmaceutical disease
establishment franchise operations, that control the media and manipulate
the governance of the planet in favor of their mercenary bottom lines. I think
that exercising this kind of directive is like the parent in the form of the
designer, or Brahmin disciplining the child, which is the Kshatria or arms of the body of the Purusha,
so that the feet can heal themselves from the vampire blood sucking of their
life energy.
So this was my presentation that was not conveyed
to the other nodes, at the design with dialogue session because of the constraints
placed on the speaker of our group. And I can see that this type of marginalization
of input, quarantining of ideas, homogenizing of content in order for there
to be a mercenary replication or cloning agreeable with the military industrial
governmental disease establishment funding complex for academic, or para-academic
professional actions, will yield very little if anything at all in terms of
actual change in the direction of real ecological and human sustain ability.
At
this point I am undecided as to whether or not the pursuit of seeking recruits
from my agenda, that should actually be our agenda collectively, if we are
indeed academically trained and morally sane in light of the current reality
of our collective situation in a dying planet. Unfortunately I think these
kinds of "simple solutions" are not accessible to the deliberate
conflagration and mystification of what it takes to get grants and awards
and scholarships and accolades within the existing framework of commercialized
indoctrination posturing as education, or commercial design posturing as social
solutions.
In
conclusion again I would like to say that I am very grateful for our meetings
and whatever limited sharing and encouragement that I receive, given the groups
timetables and time constraints. We all need to put bread on our tables and
we all know that being creative can definitely be a liability in institutions
that are dedicated only to satisfying the wants of their shareholders, or
entertainment whose morality is based entirely on box office receipts and
so on. However, I encourage the designer who still has some semblance of self
left, after the acid bath of media sadism inflicted on their beings from cradle
to grave, to de-design for designs sake, like the proverbial cliché "art
for art's sake" and to have the brain of the universal social body get
in touch with its feet from time to time, just to make sure that they are
still connected to the body and in good working order.
