Selected Quotes and Suggestions from Survivors of Institutionalized Poverty Prisons:
"...as far as prevention of poverty, there is nothing ...it is a huge business ( the poverty business ) and from long experience it is clear, that only the poor will help the poor..." Margret Michell - Veteran "Rights for the Poor" worker, founding member of The Vancouver Opportunities Program in an interview with "Help Yourself" magazine, Vancouver 1973
...
"i was standing watching the long food lines, people in the cold
...i remembered what it was like to be there
...without an address or a phone and no identity
...i realized that, in this technological society, we could provide everyone in that line up with access
... at least a virtual home."

"...one think i know living on the streets, is you can't afford to get down and so eating junk food and drinking drugging, is going to get you down, so i don't do it under the grace of my "Higher Power", "One Day at a Time."
...eating "whole and raw foods", whenever you can get them, are in the long run less expensive and more nutritious ...caffeine in soda and coffee will make you schizoid and paranoid and refined - what advertisers call "Sugar" is really a drug called "Sucrose", they put in all the food to brainwash people and so called Salt, is really Sodium Chloride a poison. Then when they get rid of the brown part of grains, by making things white, like white rice and white flour, then all of the "B complex vitamins", that you need for your nerves, is removed
...this guy i knew, who never wore shoes, even in winter sometimes (a bit crazy i guess?) but he used to carry sacks with bottles full of sprouting seeds ...he must have been 138 years old and never got sick...healthies guy i have ever seen ...used to walk for miles non stop...and always happy..."

Access to Community Information is a Civil Right for All Citizens
If you are an impoverished nomadic citizen, you are familiar with the vicious cycles: not being able to get community support because you do not have an address - not being able to get an address because you cannot find affordable housing and do not receive a livable income - you do not have a bank account because you are not able to save enough to open one and/or because you do not having identification because someone has stolen yours - because you have no place to keep your valuables and it goes on and on and you are too hungry, angry, lonely and tired and get too sick and depressed to do anything about it and so just goes day in and day out, month after month, year after year. You can break this chain reaction by creating a virtual home, with an address people can send mail to and a phone number, people can contact you at and you can start right here, right now. So the you can restore your identity and start building your own virtual home and from there to take steps to establishing a more viable one, let us show you how to use and get access to the digital information infrastructure freely available to you in your community:
WELCOME TO CASHTOWN
Doesn't this aerial photo of a residential area look like a circuit board? ...it is. Or rather, this image of our model virtual neighborhood in cyberspace, was generated by a circuit board. In the age of cyberspace no one need be "homeless" in the sense of having no address and a virtual environment for personal space from which to network and develop resources. This is "georgie" a nomadic artist painting in his interactive simulated virtual studio. It may look like a useless space for those living in makeshift shelters, but check it out, the phone works and he gets mail and is available for contract work: To E-mail "georgie" click HERE Wow "georgie" just got a notice of some e-mail on his computer ...Hey it's from Ricardo and Carita. Looks like a huge file ...it's a Merry "Junk Culture" Christmas Greeting that he can pass on to you, in ZIP compressed format, of a ".PPT" file for a PowerPoint slide show...geez you could put an entire semester of a course from the Virtual Free University in a file this size ...but just for the fun of it: ... How to get started building your own virtual space The first thing to do is to get connected to the information grid,"The Matrix". The idea is to use it well and not to get hardwired into it , right? If you saw the film The Matrix you will remember that to "jack in" there had to be a phone jack (...this film is the Hollywood warmonger corrupted version of reality - beware of implants.) Here is an example of a list of free internet access terminal locations for the City of Toronto: This is- a first draft under construction -a networking model, for an experimental interactive infrastructure map of free open access telecommunications connection modules for the City of Toronto. Please provide us with any new locations. Please attempt to be clean, sobre and civil when using these facilities: <> Click here for a map of the Toronto Public Library System- technically this the best the city has to offer and it is your space, as it belongs to the public and you are a member of the public - the City of Toronto is employed by you to govern it for your use and the resources are vast, plentiful and generally free and open to access...however there has been some problems with some elitist domination types who want to play god - these are the ones that are selling the whole thing down the river and getting into bed with junk media corporations ...you know the type - anal retentive nerdy fascists ...well, there have been people who have been being excluded, from their privileges to access, under threat of of being charged with trespassing ...we have all heard that one before ...The other problem is that people are coming in and using the facilities as they would a bath house, or being obnoxious to staff, or taking things and not putting them back or destroying them, etc., this is where the word "civil" comes in ...being civil minded means you respect your privileges as a citizen by respecting and being responsible for the privileges of other citizens ...if you have to wash your privates or you laundry by hand consider doing it in a public recreation center as these are more appropriate for these things ....these are also sometimes equipped with terminals ...but they have free swimming and yoga classes....we are very fortunate to have these resources ...use them well, follow protocol and do not abuse the privileges as others will be hurt by your actions. The City of Toronto has full time staff that are dedicated to providing information to you the public...you are rich if you know where your wealth lies-it's your city ... use it well <> Major Hotels often have Business Centers - you have to look good and be cheerful ...to really be cool you can check your bags in ( most important that is are the resentments bags - could cost a couple of dollars in tips if you have it) ask the concierge where the "business center" is ...and when there ask for an "Internet connection" ...you are there to do business not to make waves...so be polite and be business like ...after all the Hotels are in business to make business and they are private property, so they are being hospitable to you, so you need to respect that. <> South West corner of Spadina and Dundas Downstairs in the Mall- this one is new and they really want to see if anyone will use the terminal <> University of Toronto Robarts Library Information Commons - need other students to help... <> Ryerson Library - touchy ...ask students to assist ...and staff need to know that you are intending to become a student ...which you are ...and you are also a student of this VFU if they really need to know <> York University Library - same as above <> Some Spiritual Fellowships and Church Organizations - The United Church is one example of People who generally are open and caring to community issues , but they may not be able to help with Internet resources ...but you can "network" - that is a term in this case, for social networking and a very useful tool for recovery, including financial recovery, check out 12 step programs like Debtors Anonymous , Workaholics Anonymous and of course Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous and others ... <> Places to avoid ... that should be helpful but are not - are the public broadcasting companies like the CBC ...did you know that as a citizen you own the public media and that the Canadian Radio and Television Commission - like its counterpart the Federal Communications Commission in the US, was set up to protect your rights of access to public media...These people however, are really owned by the advertisers, that have pirated your rights, ...if you want to mess with pirates go ahead, but don't expect fair play from them. Equally remember that private concerns in the culture sector are generally in it for the money and they may view you as a threat, or at least as some one they cannot exploit, with out any money to give them...like the private schools i.e. case in point The National Ballet School ...a wonderful resource for rich anorexic kids to break their feet on point shoes ...it is generally empty (most kids don't want to break their feet so that some fat cats can get perverted pleasure watching them fly across a stage and back again) ...the security guards are like the pimps in the old brothel houses ...they are all about business and so if you are there to talk about art, or access to space and Internet facilities, you are in the wrong place and they will have you charged with trespassing. The idea is to find the right place and to be there instead. When you network socially, a good rule of thumb is to avoid negative, codependent, addicted and/or disturbed people as they will bring you down and are not good sources of accurate information. Your serenity is all you have, do not give your power away and lose it. <> If some of these institutions give you a hard time please let us know but follow the protocols, try to avoid conflict and be discrete and you should not have any problems ... Now that you are connected to the Internet with the help of the people around you the first thing to do is to get an e-mail address. i.e.: For an AD free provider go to the "My E-mail" link on http://myway.com Then when you have setup an account e-mail "georgie" and we will continue to build from there...

Getting Rid of the Toxic Shaming, a study of the History of Poor Movements :
|
Some notes on the "history of the poor" from a "nomadic citizen of the planet": "We the poor, are not alone... we live on an artificially overpopulated planet where one Hiroshima of poor kids dies every day ...and starving mothers will sell their child into slavery or prostitution for the price of a meal, while adoption agencies will sell them legally for fifty thousand US dollars. Where children that cannot feed themselves, are having children that die. Where we should have laws like they do in China - "one child per family", but no limit on the number you can adopt, for a couple of dollars per head. Yes, there is only 2% of the planet that are "rich", so if you are like the rest of us, "you are not alone".We number six billion and growing ...so there is no need for toxic shame, for we need to "...have the serenity of accept the things we cannot change...". ...in the sixties to protest the violence of a technological age, many of us "dropped out" of society and became "seekers". Today, they label us, along with the rest of "the poor", as "homeless" in a negative sense, ...there are some famous people that were "homeless" mendicants, like the Mother of Jesus and Buddha any many have suffered homelessness as a result of displacement and diaspora caused by war. ...i do not believe that being "poor in spirit" should be a stigmatizing identity. Perhaps it would be more appropriate to label the rich "morally insane". We, as modern Neo-Luddites, have struggled long and hard for a Guaranteed Livable Income that is a human right for all citizens, especially the Universal Free Child . Ethically this technological society, that was built by the labor of our ancestors, must be taxed for compensation for all those displaced by it. The welfare system was a partial solution but not a complete one. And of course Imperial Religions have been lining their pockets, with moneys from "the poor box", for centuries. The first step in finding your "home" is by claiming your right to one. Part of that is about learning to love yourself. That is simple but not EZ. The first step in getting clean and sober is by getting rigorously honest with yourself. Some religionists will complain that this not enough ...but then we know about those people, who are "open for business for only one hour on Sunday" because if you go and ask them for some of that money they collect "for the poor" they will have you arrested in the name of "Jesus". But did you know that Jesus was actually just another Spartacus fighting for the rights of "the poor" before he became promoted to being a God. There is a spiritual Christianity,Judaism or Islam and so on, but you will not find it in these places. Matthew 7:22 If we put our 10%-20% of income from your collections-like our ancestors have been doing forever- into "tithing", for our own ministries we would have shelters with roofs of gold too i.e.: The Church Temple of Buddha Christ Anarchist ...Or our Self Help organizations i.e.: The Diggers and our unions like the IWW that are constantly being corrupted. Or if we donated into our own cultural funds- our Art and Anti-ART protest exploited /marginalized/diluted as well i.e.:The Nadaist Manifesto Alliance ... In fact the churches, institutions of the "poverty business" were all built with "poor mans" money ...we all must actually be rich then...but in the mean time it helps to use the ones that are available too us now and there are a few "ascended masters" and "good people" out there. The thing is that the "poor have always been taking care or the poor themselves" and that is called the "Common Cause" not to be confused with the nonpartisan nonprofit advocacy organization founded in 1970 by John Gardner as a vehicle for citizens to make their voices heard in the political process and to hold their elected leaders accountable to the public interest. "Your home is where your heart is" and that should be right in your chest. Today, by the power of your own "I AM", you are free to call yourself if you like, a "self employed nomadic citizen of the planet" and "wherever you lay your head is your home" by doing so you are "homeless" no more. Only you can make that decision. The decision to be FREE. They say that " the Artists are free to sleep under bridges" but we know that true Artists will build their own bridges ...and you can start right now.
