OPEN LETTER :
As a recovering Media Addict I have compassion for those suffering media bombardment, case in point, my art mail (info overload) of late has been like so much spam on your machine, I'm sure. We do not have the capacity to delete perpetually, so we tend to delete that which is not in our ethnocentric hermeneutic circle, thus due to "Compassion Fatigue" we do not experience the suffering of the "Hiroshima(s)" of starving children that are dispatched off the planet every couple of days due to starvation, war, disease and slavery. We may send a tax deductible donation to a relief organization to banish our pangs of remorse, if any, then cocoon and compartmentalize and remain in denial about the Ecological reality of the Global over-population holocaust we find ourselves powerless over. Then we consol ourselves with the "yesno" that we, the affluent few, are at "almost" zero population growth whatever that means and that the problem is somehow over there in the nebulous "third world". Requests for radical participaction are mopped off our monitors along with the spam...this is not "Free Speech". We hide out in our work, generating more data for the data pile and more academic screed, "publish or perish". Talk of radical programs for ethics in technology may reach our ears but we are already up to the brim with "recent publications" or busy recovering from our workaholic burnouts with "geographic cures" in the form of "vacations"...some "relax" on the beaches of "the third world"......must we al go blogging now?

...We'll that's it for today... my chronic repeated stress pain prohibits producing much more on the keyboards ...although voice recognition may be the answer ...it is difficult to hold a train of thought while forever correcting the errors there seems to be no way around using the keyboards...save for sending audio dictation through the mails or via email ...an alien and difficult media to decipher, for "those pressed for time " and immersed in the hubbub of a "textual universe" , those marooned on the fractured satellites of the shattered shreds of the "Guttenberg Galaxy" and the post literati on the other hand cannot tolerate any 8mm film grain in their "virtual reality" experience and cannot read without Technicolor and Panavision. Blog on ???

Finding myself in a no mans land,I Am not alone ...a pioneer ... a Technethic Cleric ...founding, training and forging "the new order" of "speakers" that are inter-disciplinary, non-denominational, non-political...the melding of the best of science(art) and art (religion) measuring themselves and not at all by corporate controlled multi-versity or "worldly standards" ...apprenticing as I did, in the way of traditional renunciates for 22 years under the guidelines of a spiritual sponsor and taking vows of spiritual poverty (obedience to principles and surrender of will and life strategy to a higher power), chastity ( mental and physical hygiene),and sobriety.
This path is well known to recovering addicts in 12 Step programs. Intellectual outsiders, like Scott Peck, can only guess and make journalistic renderings of this process.. .

...yesterday I interviewed and hired a student who answered my ad for "the work", another, like the few who are Simon Weil like in character, dedicated to social changed and consequently chronically under employed and under earners ( many do not make it through the mutilations of corporate academia) although of brilliant intelligence and an honors student already disenfranchised... she is willing to "edit and research" without pay...because she finds the work rewarding, nevertheless she must work in the service sector to pay for her tuition fees, so she can get a "full time job".. there is something very askew with this image. The marginalization of the Arts and Sciences is part of the imperial agenda. Technethics must seek tithes and guaranteed annual income for all.
I do not agree with the slant proposed in "Your Money or Your Life" that those who want to pursue a career in writing (the arts) should first dedicate the finest years of their life to menial jobs, compulsory matriculation and save Government savings bonds until they can become "financially independent" and finance their writing with the interest off their retirement funds. Working artists and specifically those who are employed with questions of Technethics, I feel should be remunerated for their work...and not exploited for their energies by mercenary institutions, buried alive in the service sector or leached of their life’s time as wage slaves.
In "How to Turn Eighty Million Workers Into Capitalists on Borrowed Money" Kelso suggests another alternative but I think only when the initial demands of the original Ludites, that technology be taxed to compensate for the displacement of labor, will there be any tenable alternative. Minus Zero Population Growth...what would that imply to this equation??? It would only work in ecological harmony with -ZPG.
Meanwhile "the work*" continues and I find myself like many before me unable to compensate my new employee or myself ... my own physical resources having been depleted by a life in the résistance...in pursuit of a technethic way, a pacifist struggle to stop the ecological holocaust. Minus Zero Population Growth, Herbal Birth Control and the Abolition of propaganda coercion to procreate ie. : Artificial Ignorance -
Finally, the path has been revealed to those who seek it... now all that has to happen is that the student(s) must edit, translate and filter the material to those in the ivory towers and elsewhere in a cultural (academic) language that they can tolerate to “read”.
To this end I propose a solution, that came to me this morning when I asked my higher power to direct my thinking just for today,...having spent most of the evening trying unsuccessfully to answer the question as to how to remunerate the worker for his labor,...presently she/he is prepared to work for " Conceptual Art -" NADA notes" -ART "units of value"- unsigned promissory notes made from oriental "Hell Banknotes" with NADA cancellations.These he/she may cash in whit the first profits received from "the work*". NADA Notes (t.m.) may be somewhat like the "labor notes" that Lenin should have issued instead of borrowing "Capital" from a New York Bank . Or a revised "peoples" version of the "Bideaux Unit" of Labor. "The Forces of Production" are WAR and the related Military Industrial Disease Establishment. Minus Zero Population Growth...what would that imply to this equation???
This is however insufficient because the student " has to live" and must she be exploited by industry in order to do so ?...thus rendering her services to "the work*" minimal and strained, as have been my own scratchings for the last 35 years...eventual like Marx, to retire physically and financially challenged and suffer the consequences of penury.
As a renunciate, I have not taken remuneration for my ("spritual") work in the past, now as a recovering under-earner myself I see that it is imperative that I accept donations for "the work*", for "The ("NADA") Foundation" in the same spirit..."On action alone be thy interest, never on it's fruits"... the gifted student can and must get the agreed upon "$12 per hour" ( a symbolic figure based on general consensus as to the wage recieved by editor/ researchers), so she/he can be a "working artist" instead of "working for tips" and although you have offered in the past gestures of "money for art mail" and also have complained that reading "the work" "is a full time job in itself " Sending your tithe to "The Work*" will change that...you will be reading less and the content (tecnethic) will be healing.
